Mentor Connection

The MASBO Mentor Connection provides a way to connect with other members regarding various aspects of the school business profession. This program provides valuable resources for members new to the profession, but also can be utilized by more experienced members who need information or assistance in a specific area of school business management.

The intent of this program is to provide a system for members to quickly access information, receive advice or gain assistance in problem-solving. This is presumed to be accommodated in a few conversations or emails. If further assistance is required, or if a mentor relationship spanning a longer time is requested, please contact Connie Nordquist, MASBO Executive Director.

How It Works

Any MASBO Active Member may serve as a mentor. MASBO members who are interested in being a mentor may indicate this in their member profile, including specific information about their district, systems, and areas of expertise. This information will then be added to their member profile. Then, anyone looking for assistance (or mentorship) can access a list of mentors through the MASBO member directory. The directory has a search feature that allows for sorting mentors by area of expertise, or district size.

To Become a Mentor

Serving as a mentor is a great way to give back to the other members of MASBO. By registering as a mentor, you are agreeing to allow other MASBO members to contact you regarding the specific areas of expertise that you have indicated. Contacts can be made either by phone or email, and you are asked to return messages within 24 hours of receipt. If you are unable to answer a question, or do not have time to adequately respond to a question, please reply to the request with that answer. By participating in this program, mentors agree to foster, convey and uphold the standards, norms and values of the school business profession and the MASBO Code of Ethics. Members are able to revise the areas of expertise, or remove themselves from the mentor list, at any time.

To register as a mentor:

  1. Log in using the Login link in the upper right corner of any page.
  2. On the left side of your profile, choose to view/edit your profile.
  3. Scroll down to the mentorship section. Indicate that "yes,” you would like to become a mentor, and also indicate your district size and area(s) of expertise (this is any area that you would like to serve as a mentor in). In the "Mentoring Description” section, please also include information such as your student system, financial software, or any other information that might be related to being a mentor.

At any time, you may change these settings, or indicate that you no longer wish to serve as a mentor.
