Rising Star Award

All nominations must be submitted online.

The Rising Star Award was created to recognize and acknowledge the efforts and accomplishments of MASBO Active Members with a minimum of two, and not more than seven years of experience in the profession. This nomination requires contributions from both the nominee and the nominee's supervisor. Nominees will be evaluated based upon their contributions to their districts and current and future growth potential within their field.

IMPORTANT: All nominations must be submitted by completing the online nomination application form (below) and attaching the required documents. Complete instructions and requirements follow, and are also available on a pdf (link above), for your convenience. Please review all of the requirements, and prepare the supporting documentation prior to completing the on-line application form. Once the online nomination form is started, it must be completed soon thereafter; you do not have the ability to save an uncompleted form.

BENEFITS OF THE RISING STAR AWARD

  • The prestigious Rising Star Award Certificate/Trophy.
  • Registration for the next Leadership Academy Cohort or other MASBO/ASBO Leadership Conferences as approved by MASBO (not to exceed the registration fees for Leadership Academy).
  • Recognition in MASBO’s Newsletter and on the MASBO website.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Must have a minimum of two years, but not more than seven years of experience in the school business profession at the time of the nomination.
  • Individual has made a positive impact to the organization and has demonstrated potential for future contributions and leadership positions.
  • Maintained a MASBO Active Member for at least two years.
  • An individual may be nominated multiple times.

SELECTION PROCESS

All applications will be reviewed and scored by a selection committee. Nominations will be considered based on the award criteria. Please closely adhere to the application checklist and nomination requirements, and submit all required information. Please do not submit any extra materials, as they will not be shown to the selection panel. The award recipient will be selected by late April, and all nominators will be contacted with the results of their nomination by May 1.

NOMINATION PROCESS

All nominations must be submitted online using the Rising Star Award Nomination Form (see below). Mail-in nominations will not be accepted.

The online nomination form requires the following information:

  1. A letter of recommendation from the nominee’s Supervisor, Business Manager, or Superintendent, including reference supporting their accomplishments and impact to their organization.
  2. An applicant essay to include, but not limited to what inspired them to enter the profession, what has been most rewarding, what has been most challenging, and what MASBO has been able to provide to assist in their profession.

Note: Evaluation of applicants will be primarily based on the letter of recommendation and applicant essay; but attendance at MASBO events and volunteer participation in MASBO will also be considered.
