Built around a coaching approach, the Leadership Academy will offer the space and reflection time necessary for developing one’s ability to think in more complex, systemic, strategic, and interdependent ways. Effective leaders understand that to better manage their interactions with others, they must first understand their own motivations, and the impact their thoughts, experiences and personality play.

The program structure and content were developed in partnership between our skilled and experienced facilitators, and a group of MASBO members from a wide variety of job duties and district sizes. The result is a comprehensive program that is highly relevant, interactive, and intentional to meet the needs of school business professionals as they grow as leaders.

Format

The most effective leadership development programs include a hybrid of training, facilitation, and group coaching. The MASBO Leadership Academy includes all three, linking skill-development, problem-solving and practice opportunities with real-time challenges and current scenarios faced by participants in their actual work environments.

In-Person Sessions
Six in-person sessions span over eight full days. Each in-person session will incorporate new learning, highly interactive discussion, relevant practical activities, and opportunities for risk-taking. These sessions will all be led by our two facilitators, with outside experts being brought in to further enhance the program as needed.

Session Dates Number of Days
1 January 28-29, 2020 2 days
2 April 22, 2020 1 day
3 July 15, 2020 1 day
4 October 14, 2020 1 day
5 January 20-21, 2021 2 days
6 March 3, 2021 1 day

Small Group Coaching Sessions
In the months between the in-person sessions, participants will be split into smaller coaching cohorts where they’ll utilize video conferencing for group coaching. These groups will be led by one of the Leadership Academy facilitators, where participants will be able to further process past learning, apply it to their current work, and practice how to coach others

Facilitators
