The Minnesota Association of School Business Officials has established a voluntary certification program for all MASBO members and nonmembers. The courses are designed to train current and prospective school business officials, and offer practical information to assist members in excelling in their profession.

All Certification Courses are open to all members, but an application for the Certification Program must be completed prior to attendance for course participation to apply to the program.

NOTE: This certification course is offered once each year, alternating between a metro and St. Cloud area location. If you are enrolled in the certification program, and have taken this course once, you do not need to take it again.

12:30–1:00pm Registration  
1:00–2:15pm Overview of tax terminology, levy components, and timelines. The majority of the session includes how to budget property tax revenue and perform year-end reconciliations on property tax revenue. Cathy Erickson, ARCC
2:15–2:30pm Break  
2:30–4:00pm Tax levy, revenue, reconciliations continued. There will be time for questions followed by a short test. Cathy Erickson, ARCC

Speaker

Cathy Erickson, Finance, Funding, and Management Specialist, Arrowhead Regional Computing Consortium (ARCC), Duluth, cerickson@arcc.org
Cathy’s primary responsibility is to plan, coordinate, and present school finance workshops to the 30 member districts ARCC serves in Northern MN, including Levy, Truth in Taxation, Tax Reconciliation, Superintendent Finance Refreshers, and new Business Manager trainings. The Finance Team at ARCC also provides districts with one-on-one support, taconite assistance, and other research assistance as needed. Prior to working at ARCC, Cathy was the Business Manager at Lake Superior School District for 5 years.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations received by the MASBO office at least 48 hours prior to the event are eligible for a refund of the registration fee. No refunds will be provided for cancellations received fewer than 48 hours prior to the event. No-shows will be billed for any unpaid registration fees.

Audio/Video Policy: Registration and attendance at, or participation at association events constitutes an agreement by the registrant to association’s use and distribution of the registrant or attendee’s image or voice in photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions and audiotapes of such events and activities.
