MASBO has developed a Leadership Academy to train current and prospective school business officials on practical leadership skills to help participants excel in their profession. The Leadership Academy will provide an opportunity for individuals to interact with other business officials while developing their professional skills.

The MASBO Leadership Academy is designed to be completed in seven sessions (eight total days) over 13 months. The first session will be a two-day session to allow the participants to build relationships. The remaining sessions will be one day in length. Sessions will not interfere with regularly-scheduled MASBO conferences and meetings.

The Leadership Academy cohort will consist of approximately 20-25 participants. Participants must complete an application and obtain supervisor sign-off. Sessions begin in January 2018.

Format

The MASBO Leadership Academy is facilitated by Annette Scotti of HR Techies, who assisted in the initial development of the program. In addition to being a skilled presenter, Ms. Scotti is also an outstanding facilitator, who utilizes industry professionals to provide additional training and coaching. Although the program focuses on group interaction and learning, there will be work required between sessions.  This work may include readings, checking in with the facilitator or other cohort members, and development of a short presentation.


Facilitator/Presenter

Annette Scotti, MA-HRIR, HR Techies

Annette has over 20 years of experience working in Human Resources as director, trainer, and consultant. She has consulted with executives and mid-level management at regional and national organizations in industries including financial services, engineering, banking, health care, communications services, nonprofit and education.

Ms. Scotti is also a frequent presenter on topics in change management, social media in the workplace, leadership, and team work. She has been teaching since 1998, and currently is an assistant professor teaching HR and MA courses at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota Graduate and Professional Programs. In 2010 she received the distinguished award of “Outstanding Faculty Member” from among 400 instructors.

Ms. Scotti holds a Master of Arts in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the Carlson School of Business at the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Minnesota’s Honors Program. She also has received formal Fundamentals of Co-Active Coaching through The Coaches Training Institute of California.

Lodging

For attendees requiring lodging for the January 2018 session, a special rate of $109 per night is available for the nights of January 22 and 23 (includes breakfast buffet). Reservations should be made directly with Cambria Suites at 763-494-5556, and are the responsibility of attendees. Please note that the reservation deadline is December 25, 2017.  After this date, the group rate is no longer guaranteed.

CE Credits

MASBO will apply for Continuing Educations credits from the Minnesota Board of School Administrators for each program; the number of credits will be dependent on the hours of the program.
